As someone who cannot consume gluten/wheat, I have learned to not expect restaurants or cafes to provide me with options other than drinks (or salads at restaurants). One of my favorite things about Core Coffee is that we offer a wide variety of gluten free options!

What is gluten? “A substance present in cereal grains, especially wheat, that is responsible for the elastic texture of dough. A mixture of two proteins, it causes illness in people with celiac disease.” Something to note is celiacs disease is estimated to affect 1 in 100 people worldwide. Two and one-half million Americans are undiagnosed and are at risk for long-term health complications. BUT, you can be intolerant and allergic to gluten without having celiacs disease. (source).

Gluten helps foods maintain their shape, acting as a glue that holds food together. Gluten can be found in many types of foods, even ones that would not be expected.”

SO! Is your body a gluten free body? Whether by choice, intolerance, or disease, we have plenty of options for you!

Not only are most of our food products gluten free (and organic!), but we support  a local certified gluten free business — Liberated Baking — by providing many of their baked goods and hand pies.

All of our toasts are served on a multi-grain organic wheat bread, BUT we also have the option to serve our nutrient and flavor packed toasts (I often refer to them as open faced sandwiches!) on gluten free seeded bread. We use a separate half of the toaster designated for gluten free bread, as well as wash our hands + wipe down the cutting board and knives used.

Our hand pies and bread are baked in Liberated Baking’s certified gluten free kitchen. We also offer a variety of Liberated Baking’s pastries such as breakfast bars, coffee cake, caramel brownies, muffins, various cookies, and more. They are individually wrapped so as not to get a single crumb contaminating them.

Anyone love a good smoothie bowl?! I know I do! Our organic smoothies and smoothie bowls are not only incredibly delicious and filling, but gluten free.

We have five different smoothie base options, all made here in house by our barista, Hannah. From there you can choose your liquid — oat/coconut/almond/cow milk or apple juice — and your three toppings. FYI I always go with apple juice!

Speaking of our toppings, our granola is also gluten free! You can also top your smoothie bowl with fresh fruit, bananas, coconot flakes, and other options. Our power smoothies are gluten free as well.

We also offer chips and salsa, soup, and yogurt parfait bowls. Most — if not all — of our soups are gluten free as well! The only reason one of our soups may not be considered certified gluten free is because we may use a product that is made in the same area as a gluten product.

So! Are you gluten free? I am proud to share that we have so many options for you! Come on in and let us know what you’d like to try.
